THINGS TO DO AT MISSION BEACH
Go calm water canoeing with Mission Beach Nature Tours down beautiful Liverpool Creek. A different way to see the rainforest, really experience the Wet Tropics. Then dry off at a BBQ for lunch.
Go for “the round trip” of Mission Beach. Along the main road, from South Mission to Bingil Bay with the Mission Beach Bus Service.
If you’re looking for adventure, why not try white water rafting on the Tully River. There are grade 3 and 4 rapids - sure to get the adrenaline pumping. Two rafting companies operate here.
Try a spot of fishing either from the Clump Point Jetty which is a favourite place early in the morning or just on dusk, or there are charter fishing trips available.

There are plenty of local arts and crafts on display – Helen Wiltshire Gallery at Mission Beach, Cornucopia Pottery along Tully–Mission Beach Road, "The Gallery" at Mission Beach or the Artist Colony at Dunk Island.
There are many interesting places to visit within a days drive. Maybe the Atherton Tablelands, Paronella Park, Kurrimine Beach, Tully Gorge or the Edmund Kennedy National Park at Cardwell. The Mission Beach Visitors Centre provides a detailed list of suggested day trips and their distances.
Check out the lava formations around the rocks at the very northern end of Mission Beach. These are the result of a small volcano which erupted a short distance East of Clump Point within the last two million years. They are best viewed on a low tide.
Discover the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Beaver sand cay is only 40 kilometres from Mission Beach.
Visit beautiful Dunk Island. Just three & a half kilometres offshore, there are plenty of sandy beaches and good bushwalking tracks. The ferry departs twice daily and the water taxi runs hourly.
Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day relaxing on one of our perfect beaches.
Misty Mountains Wilderness Walking Tracks: Over 130 km of tracks, stunning waterfalls. spectacular rainforest, crystal clear creeks and magnificent vistas are just the beginning. Misty Mountains is Australia's first network fo long distance walking trails in a high altitude rainforest environment.

For the really adventurous why not try skydiving with Jump the Beach. Take off from Tully airport and land on the beach.
Monster Markets are held the last Sunday of each month between Easter and End of November at Marks Park. Local markets are twice a month on the beachfront across from Hideaway Van park .
There are some great freshwater swimming holes close by. Try Alligators Nest, about 5 minutes out of Tully; Murray Falls, 30 minutes south of Tully or The Boulders, 5 minutes from Babinda. These all have barbecue facilities and are perfect for cooling off on a hot sunny day. Josephine Falls, about 30 minutes north of Innisfail is also beautiful, with a 20 minute walk through the rainforest from the parking area to the falls.
Mission Beach has one of the best range of publicly available walking tracks in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Find a walk to suit your fitness level, put your walking shoes on and be on the lookout for cassowaries. |
